Det er tusenvis av APPer tilgjengelig for Amazon Fire TV (også de fleste Android* APPer kan benyttes – les lenger ned), så vi kan ikke liste opp alle mulighetene her (som stadig øker). Nå har f.eks. TV2 (Play) også egen APP på Amazon sin APPstore ellers er selvsagt alle amerikanske APPer der som f.eks.: Netflix, Prime, Apple TV APP, Disney+, YouTube, HULU, VPN, IP-TV, Nettlesere, spill osv. Se utvalg av Amazon APPer til Fire TV: https://www.amazon.com/gp/browse.html. Norske og nordiske APPer (NRK osv.) kan oftest lastes ned som standard Android APP via f.eks. Aptoide*. Tjenester kan alternativt være tilgjengelig via innebygget Silk-nettleser eller f.eks. Firefox nettleser. Du kan også koble til Bluetooth-enheter til Fire TV Stick (som f.eks. hodetelefoner og tastatur), men normalt bruker man mobilen hvis man vil skrive lengre tekst på søk osv.

Alle strømmetjenester som er internasjonale (Netflix osv.) finner du gratis APPer for direkte i Amazon sin APP-store. Også noen spesielle norske og nordiske som f.eks. TV2 Play, men ellers når det gjelder nordiske APPer må man laste ned Android versjon.

Fire TV benytter Android og du kan enkelt laste ned Android APPer hvis du først installerer Aptoide APP – denne må lastes ned utenom Amazon slik: endre innstillinger under Settings – My Fire TV – Developer options (på ny versjon må du nå først klikke 7 ganger på firesticknavnet for å bli «developer») – skru på begge innstillingene der, både «ADB Debugging» og «APPs from unknown sources». Søk opp APPen «Downloader» og last ned fra nettadressen: tv.aptoide.com. Eventuelt skriv inn i adressefeltet: ontel.no/ftv. Enkelte Android-APPer som krever Google Services derimot vil ikke virke siden Google Services ikke fungerer på Fire TV (det finnes forskjellige varianter av Google Services for forskjellige enheter, så hvis noen har fått det til å virke med f.eks. T-We og de appene som krever Google Services, vennligst gi beskjed). De fleste Android APPer krever ikke Google Services (f.eks. NRK-APP osv.) og fungerer fint! Når du da åpner Aptoide APPen som er lastet ned finner du utvalget av Android APPer som kan lastes ned direkte til din Fire TV (f.eks. «NRK» osv.).

Det finnes mange andre muligheter, f.eks. via Kodi.tv (Android og ARM 64-bit for nyere/raskere FireTV, evt. 32-bit for eldre/tregere).

Du trenger ikke noen overgang for å sette den rett i TV så lenge du har HDMI-inngang (eneste krav), så den fungerer på alle TVer, også eldre. Dersom det er trangt følger det også med en tynn HDMI-overgang med kort ledning til Fire Stick. MEN du trenger i tillegg til dette strøm til Fire-Sticken, og det er via en USB-kabel som følger med. Har du USB-inngang på TVen kan den normalt plugges rett in der, og i de fleste tilfelle gir det nok strøm (selv om det kan komme en advarsel med en gang). Hvis ikke kommer en feilmelding på skjermen og du må da i tilfelle bruke en ekstern USB-adapter som følger med, men det er denne som har flate pinner og trenger en overgang (støtter også «norsk» spenning ca. 230V). Alternativt kan du også bruke en annen standard USB-lader hvis du har.
